Pisa , Italia

Leaning Tower of Pisa at dusk with evening sky

I’m in Italy, so I went.

Pisa — a place I had only seen in textbooks as a kid,
or on television, framed perfectly for the screen.
This time, I saw it in person.

On the way to my Airbnb. It wasn’t glamorous. But maybe that’s why it felt easier to walk.
I had to head out before the sky turned fully dark. Just one photo, for memory’s sake.

Maybe because I’ve seen it so many times through media,
the emotion wasn’t overwhelming.
There was no dramatic moment.

But there was a quiet sense of achievement.

The Leaning Tower stood straighter than I expected.
I thought it would feel more dramatically tilted,
but it looked steadier than I imagined.
And of course, the tourists were everywhere.

Darkening sky. Better atmosphere.
It felt like stepping back into the Middle Ages.

It was evening.
The light was softer, the air calmer.
That helped.

The food, as in most of Italy, was at least decent.
Nothing shocking, nothing disappointing.
After walking all day, I ate more than I needed to.
More than my capacity.

Aperol Spritz

As a Korean, I can’t completely deny it —
there’s always that slight sense of obligation.
If I came all the way here, I should see it properly.
Stand there.
Look at it.
Take the photo.

After sunset, Italia feels beautiful anywhere.

But still,
it was worth it.

Not life-changing.
Just… real.

And sometimes, that’s enough.
